G13-Photoroom

G1 Transformers Showcase – Dinobot Grimlock

Among the vast roster of Transformers, Grimlock stands out as a fan favorite. The leader of the Dinobots, he combines raw prehistoric power with an unmistakable personality. Capturing Grimlock in LEGO BrickHeadz form is no small task, but i have tried to translate both his robot and dinosaur modes into the Brickheadz signature blocky style—while retaining the core features that make him instantly recognizable.

Dinosaur Mode – Tiny T-Rex with Attitude

Grimlock’s T-Rex form is the mode most fans think of first, and this BrickHeadz version nails it with clever use of parts and proportions.

  • Jaw & Teeth – The standout feature is undoubtedly the oversized mouth lined with sharp white teeth. The builder made smart use of sloped white tiles to create that jagged grin, giving Grimlock his trademark ferocity even in chibi form.
  • Head Shape – The rectangular top snout and blue visor eyes are pulled straight from his G1 cartoon model. The contrast between the smooth snout and layered head sides gives the figure a nice mechanical touch.
  • Proportions – His tiny arms and chunky legs are exactly what you want from a Grimlock build. The wide stance gives him stability and presence, while keeping the T-Rex silhouette unmistakable.
  • Color Accuracy – The gray base with pops of yellow and red tie him back to his robot mode origins, reminding collectors that this is still very much a Transformer, even in dinosaur form.

Robot Mode – The King of the Dinobots

Switching to his robot mode, Grimlock retains all the iconic design elements fans know from G1, carefully adapted into BrickHeadz proportions.

  • Helmet & Crest – The layered slope pieces create his iconic head crest, instantly recognizable to Transformers enthusiasts. It’s a subtle but crucial detail that sells the character.
  • Visor – The bright blue visor dominates his face, just as it should. It’s a clean, bold design choice that keeps him in line with his animation model.
  • Chest & Torso – The yellow torso block, framed with a central red square, is directly lifted from G1 Grimlock’s chest design. It’s one of those details that instantly clicks for fans and makes the BrickHeadz unmistakable.
  • Arms & Shoulders – The chunky side builds give his arms mechanical weight without overcomplicating the form. They balance out his proportions while staying true to the simplified BrickHeadz style.

The end result is a stocky, powerful bot mode that feels just as “kingly” as Grimlock should.

Display Value & Collector’s Appeal

What makes this BrickHeadz Grimlock shine is the dual representation. Many BrickHeadz are one-off character busts, but here we get both iconic modes in perfect, squat little builds. For a collector, that means you can showcase Grimlock’s dual nature side-by-side: the untamed dinosaur and the commanding robot.

The builds also show off clever part usage, particularly in the jaw, visor, and chest paneling. They’re compact, sturdy, and instantly recognizable, which is exactly what you want in a character-driven BrickHeadz design.

For Transformers and LEGO fans alike, this is a must-have display piece that celebrates one of the most memorable Autobots in a fresh, collectible format.

Final Verdict

LEGO BrickHeadz Grimlock delivers on two fronts: nostalgia and creativity. I tried to distill the essence of the G1 Dinobot leader into both his modes him being my favourite, all while keeping within the playful chibi aesthetic of BrickHeadz.

For collectors, it’s not just about the character—it’s about the execution. And in this case, Grimlock proves once again why he’s the king. 👑
